When was the last time you took your business on a date?
I'm serious. 😂
We spend so much time reviewing our numbers, planning launches, creating offers and figuring out how to grow our businesses. But how often do we actually stop and ask whether we're still happy in the relationship?
Because your business might think everything is fine.
Meanwhile, you've been quietly contemplating divorce for six months.
Your business isn't necessarily the problem
Think about how relationships work. If you're unhappy, disconnected or wanting something different, eventually you need to have a conversation.
You can't expect the relationship to change if nobody's talking about what's wrong.
And I think we forget that this applies to our businesses too.
Especially when we're solopreneurs.
When you've got a team, you're probably having regular meetings about what's happening, where things are going and what needs to change.
But when it's just you?
It's easy to keep doing what you've always done without questioning whether it's still what you want.
Take your business on a date
There are so many ways to get into conversation with your business.
You can start with the obvious stuff. Regular weekly, monthly or quarterly check-ins. Review your numbers, your workload, your goals and whether the business is actually supporting the life you want.
You can journal about what feels good, what feels uncomfortable and what you'd like to change.
Or you can explore the woo-woo stuff. 🔮
Meditation, hypnosis, Akashic Records, Human Design and astrology can all become ways of reflecting on your relationship with your business from a different perspective.
I actually created a modality called Hypnotic Akashic Awakening™, which combines hypnosis with journeys into the Akashic Records. One of the things I love exploring through this work is the relationship between a business owner and the business they've created.
Because sometimes the answers aren't about another strategy.
They're about what you've been unwilling to admit you actually want.
Maybe you don't need to break up
Here's the thing.
Having an honest conversation with your business doesn't automatically mean you're going to leave it.
You might realise you still love the work, but you're completely over the way you're delivering it.
Maybe you need to change your offers, boundaries, audience or business model.
Or maybe you've genuinely outgrown the whole thing.
I've experienced both over my years in business, including selling off business assets and building something completely different.
And that's why I'm so passionate about helping people figure out what actually needs to change before they start throwing everything in the bin.
So... we need to talk.
If you haven't checked in with your business lately, consider this your invitation.
Take yourself somewhere nice. Order a coffee. Open your journal.
Ask whether you're still on the same page.
And if you discover that you're not, that doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.
It might just mean the relationship needs to change.
