You Built a Business That Changed Your Life. Then Your Life Changed You.

🎧 PODCAST EP·The Business Break-Up Podcast··Episode 1

We talk a lot about building a business that changes your life.

We talk much less about what happens when your life changes you, and the business you built doesn't change with the person you're becoming.

Because sometimes your business isn't failing.

You're still good at what you do. People know you for it. You've built the audience, offers, reputation and all the other shit that took years to create.

You just don't really want it anymore.

And that can be much harder to make sense of.

I've dated a lot of business ideas

When I started my business in 2019, I didn't have some grand vision for what I was going to build.

I knew I wanted out of my career. I knew I wanted to coach. So I trained in coaching, NLP, hypnosis and EFT, and by 2020 I was building my first proper business as a purpose coach.

Then came what I now affectionately call my business situationship era. 😂

Purpose coaching became business strategy. There was a Reels era. An OBM era. Different offers and ideas I tried on while figuring out what actually fit.

Eventually, I found something I was willing to commit to: Bundles and collaborations.

And I went ALL IN.

I built the audience, programs, IP and community. I became known for it.

I'd finally stopped dating business ideas and married one.

There was just one problem.

Eventually, I didn't want to be married to it anymore.

Your business doesn't have to fail for you to outgrow it

Bundles worked.

That's important.

I didn't leave because the business spectacularly imploded or because I was terrible at it.

I changed.

My identity changed. My spirituality changed. My relationship with work changed. My personal life changed. What I wanted my days and my future to look like changed.

But businesses don't automatically evolve because we do.

You can become a completely different person while continuing to operate a business designed around the identity, ambitions and desires of the person you used to be.

Eventually, something starts feeling off.

Maybe you think you've lost motivation.

Maybe you assume you're burnt out.

Maybe you change your offers, your messaging or your Instagram bio seventeen fucking times trying to make it feel right again.

And sometimes those things genuinely do need changing.

But sometimes?

You're still trying to run a business built for someone you're no longer trying to be.

Then came the rebound business

After consciously ending my Bundles era, I created WooPreneur.

And looking back, I can see that WooPreneur was my rebound business.

It wasn't a mistake.

It brought my spirituality back into my work. It brought me back to hypnosis, EFT and the modalities I'd originally trained in. It led to summits and eventually to creating Hypnotic Akashic Awakening™.

It showed me what felt alive again.

It also showed me there was still something missing.

And that's why I don't think every new business idea needs to immediately become your new forever identity.

Sometimes the new thing is information before it becomes instructions.

Date it.

Flirt with it.

Experiment with it.

You don't have to fucking marry it immediately. 😂

Maybe nothing has gone wrong

I built a business that changed my life.

Then, over the next six or seven years, my life changed me.

Eventually, my business had to change too.

And maybe that's where you are.

Maybe you still love your business but don't want it like this anymore.

Maybe you've outgrown parts of it.

Maybe you've outgrown the whole fucking thing.

You don't have to know the answer yet.

But you can start with a much more useful question:

What is actually true about my relationship with my business now?

Not when you started it.

Not when it was working beautifully.

Not when you decided this was what you wanted to be known for.

Now.

Because starting over doesn't mean everything you built was a waste.

And it definitely doesn't mean starting from scratch.
